One of the must haves during our search for our new home in the Mid-Hudson was a house that came with a garage. The reason: garages protect cars from inclement weather, fallen trees and branches.
We were thrilled that our new house came with not just one, but a 2-car garage. However, during the inspection, we noted the garage door had a dent from vehicle impact. It was also extremely loud and uneven when it opened and closed, and occasionally would get jammed while opening.
On top of that, during a replacement consultation, we learned that both garage door suspension cables were badly frayed and in jeopardy of snapping. They were also causing the framing around the door to separate from the frame of the garage. All of it could cause substantially more damage to the rest of the garage if not urgently repaired.

As a precaution, the garage door motor was immediately disengaged, and the suspension cables were cut. We ordered replacement door panels from Clegg Bros in New Windsor.

Within a month, they installed new door panels, replaced the worn cables and repaired the framing so the door operated properly.
Now we have a safe and functional garage door that provides easy access to our garage and peace of mind. Have you had a similar experience with your garage door?
